Due to the pressures brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic, almost overnight, the historic focal point of the industry went from heavy commercial carriers to cargo, regional aircraft, and bizjets.

Initially, given the immediate global economic shut down and severely limited operations industry-wide, TTA and others in the aviation accessory component & overhaul/repair sector had to weather through on their own as demand for repairs and service dropped significantly.

Simply stated, “When the aircraft do not fly, we cannot perform as much repair activity as we should,” says Stanley Kowlessar, Sr., TTA’s President and General Manager.

Historic Shift
But when the dust settled, this FAA-certified, Part 145 repair station based near Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, got its bearings – and realized it had landed on the favorable side of this historic shift in the business.

“Weathering the storm – and continually servicing all types of aviation clients and doing everything possible to provide skilled resources for them – is a skill set that Thrust Tech has successfully honed during its 30-plus years of experience. In fact, the ability to turn on a dime and react to the emerging demands of the industry has long been our ace in the hole,” says Kowlessar.

By the numbers, in 2020, he reports that Thrust Tech serviced more than 270 customers with parts, MRO services, and exchanges, which in turn helped the company to infuse various economies via the purchase of parts and services from more than 100 suppliers around the globe. The family business has also pivoted quickly to meet market needs, such as recently receiving FAA approval for its all-new emergency battery solution that it’s now offering to clients.

The Long Haul
Another plus? Consolidations within the aviation industry in 2020 have had the positive impact of helping Thrust Tech increase its talent pool. “That’s important, as we are committed for the long haul and for building a legacy,” he added. Without question, many of TTA’s customers suffered from the severity of the industry changes that drove significant cost-cutting measures – such as massive job cuts, slashed investments, and reduced purchasing

Kowlessar notes, however, “Our company mission throughout 2021 will be to continue doing everything possible to provide the full range of required services for our aviation clients, while maintaining the highest quality standards – all at competitive prices.”

Culture of Success
One factor that’s helped Thrust Tech successfully navigate through 2020 and to create a path for 2021 is the company’s corporate culture, which Kowlessar describes as “team-focused, nimble, and quick-to-pivot.
