Chase the Dream and You Will Not Be Disappointed

Today, a 38 year-old company celebrates six years under new ownership and management – and the journey continues. As the story goes, seven years ago, I showed up for work as a regular employee, as the new operations manager. Flash forward to Dec. 15, 2023, along with my wife and children, we are the proud owners of Thrust Tech Accessories for the past six years – and what an amazing ride it’s been.

After becoming the new owners, the real work began – and continues even today. Our goal is to offer a safe and comfortable working environment for our employees and provide for their families, by serving our customers.

The past six years we encountered challenges and experienced victories. Through it all, we have overcome and conquered. Today, this company looks nothing like it did six years ago. And I have to say, with our solid team of dedicated workers, no challenge is too big and no victory too small. As we continue this journey, we will always strive to build a better place to work, a place where camaraderie and opportunity thrives, a place that our employees can call their “home away from home.”

Today we are in a stronger position than we have ever been before. All you have to do is look around and see all that has been accomplished to put us in the driver’s seat. We have a secret weapon in Jet Tech, which has completed its new Engineering Lab this year and has produced many alternate solutions for TTA, putting us in a much more competitive position than other MROs in the industry. With some opportunities before Jet Tech today, we believe 2024 will be Jet Tech’s year to get on the map.

The Kowlessar family remains committed to the cause, the mission, and investing in the  company’s future.

Ownership continues to invest in the company, both in the team and other resources required, which should give employees and customers alike great comfort in knowing that the company is growing and investing in its future and security. Yes, the Kowlessar family remains committed to the cause, the mission, and investing in the company’s future.

I am reminded that sacrifice, hard work, and commitment still pays off – not luck, but hard work and the American Dream lives on.

For those who known me, you know I am good for at least one story: If you are looking for an example of success, I am one example you can look at. It was 44 years ago when I started my career path at the bottom of the totem pole, and with commitment and hard work I have achieved some level of success. Where I lacked in skills, I made up in efforts and taking responsibilities and ownership – both literally and figuratively.

I am reminded of an old story, some of you may have hear it before, and it goes like this:

Many years ago, a small crew was working on the railroad in the hot sun and here comes the big shiny car carrying the president of the railroad. As the car approaches, this important figure reached out the window to call out to the foreman of the crew. “John Anderson is that you?”  John said, “Yes Bob, that’s me.” Bob invited John to get into the car for a break from the hot sun. After an hour or so they bid each other goodbye, and the car went on its way.

One member of the crew that was left outside working in the hot sun wondered aloud, “Hey John, Isn’t that the president of this railroad?” John shook his head. The worker continued, “How do you know each other?”

John responded, “It was 23 years ago that Bob and I came to work for this railroad on the same day starting the same job…” Several crew members scratched their heads, before one asked, “How come he’s the president of the railroad and you’re just a foreman of this small crew?” John responded, “Well, 23 years ago I came to work for the money, $1.92/hour; while Bob came to work for the railroad.”

The moral of the story is, if you are chasing the dollar, most likely you will get it; but if you are chasing the dream, not only will you get the dollar, but you will get a whole lot more.

Chase the dream and you will not be disappointed.

On behalf of the entire Thrust Tech team I wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
