It’s been a tough couple of weeks in the U.S. airline industry, especially for customers and employees impacted by the shut-down of Spirit Airlines in late April. But Thrust Tech Accessories (TTA), an experienced MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services company based near Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, has a “spirited” message for some of those former Spirit team members.
Integration of the latest technology and AI tools aside, “it’s critical to understand the overarching importance of the human factor to our customers, suppliers, and employee team members alike,” stresses Stanley Kowlessar, TTA’s president and general manager. “So, I’m pleased to announce that we have some new hiring opportunities that could support some who’ve unexpectedly lost their airline jobs, and at the same time, help us move forward on our growth trajectory.”
New Hire Opportunities
This month, TTA is advertising new hiring opportunities across multiple departments. Former Spirit Airlines employees and others seeking a job within the Greater Fort Lauderdale area of South Florida can send their resumes and inquiries to myriam@thrusttech.com and/or call 954-984-0450.
TTA is now hiring:
- Experienced MRO Technicians (A&P Certified preferable but not required)
- Customer Service Workers — both experienced and entry level
- Purchasing & Procurement professionals
- Shipping, Receiving & Stockroom staff
- Additional roles available throughout the company
Employee Benefits Include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; prescription drugs; license premiums; paid holidays and vacations; life insurance (no extra cost); and a 401K Tax Saver Program.
Retention of Current Team Members Is Vital
“Equally important to hiring more new team members to support our growth, though, is also greatly valuing and recognizing the outstanding contributions of our existing employee team members,” Kowlessar stresses. “Many have worked at TTA for years, decades, or even their entire careers, and their expertise and commitment to the company is invaluable.”
Regardless of age, experience level, job function, or tenure — whether just a month or three decades — TTA strives to provide a range of employee growth opportunities supported by training, job function development, and new skills support. “The goal is to give solid opportunities for our employees to advance within the business,” he says.
That advancement might mean a promotion, a lateral move into a different role to enhance skill set development, or a position shift that affords better work-life balance — helping employees stay with TTA while navigating different stages of their lives.
Positive Workplace Culture
While all companies know it’s important to create a positive workplace culture, it’s not a once-and-done process. “But we truly do strive to create an environment where employees not only feel valued but also engaged, recognized, and rewarded,” Kowlessar explains.
At TTA, office gatherings and company-funded events recognize both individual and team achievements — from a 30-year work anniversary to special awards. Other events are simply fun, helping employees relax and socialize. TTA hosts BBQ events on Memorial Day and July Fourth, plus a Christmas Party luncheon complete with generous gift raffles.
“Those are ‘feel good’ activities that also help demonstrate the importance of the human side of this business,” says Kowlessar.
When Employees Leave, Filling the Gap
At times, even employees who love their job must move on — often because a spouse or partner has accepted a position in another city, state, or country. That’s why maintaining a strong employment pipeline matters.
While recruitment shortages for skilled MRO workers remain a global concern, South Florida is a hotbed for aviation MRO training and development, with certification programs offered at several local university campuses. TTA is always looking for fresh talent as well as experienced workers who may be unexpectedly searching for employment — such as the former Spirit Airlines employees who now find themselves doing exactly that.
The Mission: The Human Factor Is Essential
When TTA set out to become a world-class MRO services company, Kowlessar says it established three core goals:
- Build a world-class company.
- Provide customers with exceptional service.
- Create a workplace where employees enjoy coming to work.
“If we delivered on these promises, we knew success would follow,” says Kowlessar — and today he believes the investment in TTA’s people has made all the difference.
“Nothing matters more than the contributions of our employee team — a vibrant mix of skilled, loyal, long-time employees; qualified workers who’ve joined us from another team; and newly certified or younger workers.” That diverse mix creates a continual flow of fresh ideas and solutions that benefit TTA’s customers.
“The contributions made by our employee team have always been and will continue to make TTA a place we proudly call our ‘home away from home.'”
